Tip of the Day: Spica markers have glitter in the ink and work best when stored horizontally to prevent clogging the flow of ink!

My Favorite Things

Copic Creations is having a new challenge - Any Copic image colored on your favorite paper. Check out all the fabulous cards at Copic Creations. They are gorgeous!

My favorite paper for layering for a card base is Pure Luxury. However, for focal images, I just love Cryogen. The paper is just wonderful for coloring with Copic markers. It is easy to blend and the paper saturation is just wonderful. I selected the following card for my challenge.

Tip of the Day: Imaginisce has a wonderful little tool that allows you to adhere Imaginisce rhinestone without glue. It is a heat tool and your embellishment is applied quicker than a blink of an eye!



I "paper pieced" the focal image and assembled it on the scalloped base. The Pure Luxury Vibrant Violet really went great with the Copic colors. I applied the rhinestones with Imaginisce heat tool to complete the project.

Spring is Born!

Good morning everyone! Did you know Suzanne Dean at Color Me Creative Classroom is still having a fun "pastel" challenge? It is time to get out those Copic colorless blender pens and have some fun! This is a card I created for the Pastel Challenge.

Tip: The problem: You want to create a background or image but you do not have “that one stamp you need”….. hee hee…. Isn’t that always the case?…. Just one more stamp is all I need- honest! Well the solution is to take your copic multiliner and sketch it in freehand. I have had to do that for backgrounds or images…. It works great but be certaint to use a copic marker so you do not ruin you precious Copic Marker!!




This is a close-up of the beautiful stamp I purchased while visiting Santa Fe. It is a rubber stamp from Copper Leaf Creations called "Pot with Hummer". I just love humming birds. I have feeders in my back yard and they come to visit every day. I remember one I named Cutie. He would come and hand less than a foot in front of my face and just talk for hours!!! I was trying to read a good mystery but I just had to put the book down and visit with the little guy!

I colored the image and then cut it out and used it as my focal image for this card.

I did not have a background tht looked like aSanta Fe mountain range so I created it with my Copic multiliner. I drew my horizon and then colored with my copic markers. I then sponged the background. I stamped the very light cactus cluster from Posh Rubber Stamsp "Cactus Cluster" by Dee Gruening.

CMCC Pastel Challenge

Color Me Creative Classroom has another fun challenge - Pastels! I just love Springtime. The birds are singing and all the new little blossoms start popping up all over! This is my card for this challenge.

Tip: When you letterpress with Spellbinders Impressabilities, just dab the color to the plate. Do not rub. They are very fragile and will bend if you try to rub the color onto the plate.



I used the "Letterpress" technique for the card layer. I placed Memento Ink "New Sprout" on the Flourish Spellbinder Impressabilities plate and ran it through my cuttlebug.

I experimented with different colors of Atyou Spica pens. I decided to give some glits to the layer by adding "Sand" to the design. It is very hard to see the shine - but trust me - it is really rocks!



I assembled the ard and attached a jeweled embellishment to the center of the flower.

Morning Breaks

Hi everyone! I have been working on cards and projects but I cannot post them yet.... I can post them after the 15th. I will, however post a card I made using a stamp from an absolutely wonderful company called Stampscapes Inc. I used the stamp "Lakeside Cove".

Color Me Creative Metallic Challenge

Hi everyone! It is so good to be back I had a great time in Santa Fe but it is always good to get home. I returned to a week of 12 hours shifts. Yes, it is time for a week off and I plan to have a great time in my craft studio!

It is time for a challenge on Color Me Creative Classroom . The challenge is to create any Copic colored image that has a lot of "metallic" in it. It can be gold, tin, silver or copper. Doesn't that sound fun? Check it out and join in the fun!

Goodbye Santa Fe

During my week-long visit to Santa Fe, I stayed at the Inn at Loretto. I soon discovered that the famous and mysterious Loretto Chapel was just next door. Can you imagine that!

It is believed to be the first gothic structure west of the Mississippi. However, the chapel had a design flaw... there wasn't any way to get up to the choir loft. The Sisters made a Novena to St. Joseph, their patron saint for divine guidance. Legend has it that upon the ninth day of the Novena, a mysterious carpenter arrived to design and construct a circular stairway to the loft. The stairway contains thirty three steps in two full 360 degree turns. The stairway has no center support nor is it held from it's sides. it's full weight rests on its final tread. There are no nails or screws used in the construction of the stairwell.

Upon completion of the stairway, the carpenter mysteriously disappeared without seeking payment. Legend has it that many believe the carpenter was the embodiment of Saint Joseph the Carpenter.

Engineers and architects marvel at the design. The little chapel has a constant flow of visitors. I have taken some pictures so you too, can see the wonderful design of this mysterious staircase. I tried to take pictures from many different angles.












People come from near and far to see the chapel and the miraculous staircase. the Many leave an offering of a Rosary upon a tree branch outside the chapel upon departure.



It was a wonderful week In addition to getting to see this wonderful staircase, I really enjoyed the city. I was able to spend some time at the Georgia O'Keefe Museum. That was a very special treat. The mystery book conference, Left Coast Crime was full of activities and wonderful sessions. I listened to many new authors whose books would be of interest to me. One author, Joe Bazel sat next to me during the award's dinner and I was fortunate enough to be able to have a delightful conversation with him and to be the winner of one of his fabulous signed books!



I spent the morning in conferences and was free to spend the rest of the day shopping, dining out and shopping some more! I ate too much and don't think I want to look at any southwest food for awhile. I had some difficulty breathing with the altitude and allergies but still enjoyed myself.



And this is me... getting ready to say goodby to Santa Fe and catch an early morning flight back to (Sunny???) California!

Let's Experiment

Copic Instructor, Suzanne Dean, creator of Color Me Creative Classroom encourages her students to EXPERIMENT. Well I decided to take today and just experiment with Copics and have fun! No pressure - if it doesn't turn out... you will understand. We must take risks and try new things in order to grow. She has a copy of my very first image I colored with Copics ! I cannot believe that I first held a Copic marker in my hand about one year ago!

Tip of the Day: Did you know you can Color you background wth a Copic Airbrush System and still sponge with your Mimento Ink Markers in order to give more depth?


I know red is to be the most difficult color but I struggle with yellow. So I decided to color this image by Digi Doodle Shop called "St. Paddy Birdie". It has a lot of yellow space for my practice.


Coppics: Y0000, Y00, Y02, Y04 and Y06. I think I needed to add a little more shadow, I added YR 20. I decided to practice adding a Prisma Color Pencil to give a little more texture.


I listened to a wonderful tutorial by Suzanne Dean in her Class 3 series. She discussed using Copic markers to give the effect you are coloring with "Distress Ink". I just had to try it. YG63, G20, W3 and Colorless Blender. I used this technique on the hat and clover. I used C7, C5, C3 and C0 along with my Colorless Blender for the band around the hat.



I airbrushed my background with B00, B03,E93,R03, E33 and E93 Copic markers and then added more depth by sponging the outer edges with Paris Dusk and Pear Tart Memento Ink. I watched a tutorial on using a Copic Colorless Blender on a stamp to achieve an interesting background effect. This was a tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers. I tried the technique and realized I needed to use a more solid image. It is a great technique and I will try it again... but it got lost on this background. I lightly stamped the image again with New Sprout Memento Ink.

I mounted the image on Gina K Pure Luzure "Pure White" 120# Cardstock. I cut out my focal image and adhered it to the facal backbround. I added gree rhinestones for a little "pizazz".
