The Outlawz: Mountain Wilderness

Happy Friday to all my friends!   Friday is my day off int he middle of my week of 12 hour stretches at work.!   Yep - gonna do my favorite thing.....   spend the day in my craft room!

I just got an invitation from Ann Fenton  at the The Outlawz/Twisted Thursday to extend my time as Guest Designer for them!   I am just so excited.  It is a great place to hang out and the challenges are just so much fun.    I posted this card for this week's "Anything Goes".   It is with a twist of a flower that but is optional....   Saw the note about the flower a little late.   Nope - a flower doesn't fit on this too well :D  It's a good thing my friends love me anyway!  LOL

I used the wonderful stamp set illustrated by Theresa Momber (GKD) called Mountain Wilderness!  It is a wonderful and versatile set!   I did some "sponging" with memento ink pads and embossed one of Theresa's tree images on my background paper.

And don't forget to enter something in The Outlawz/Twisted Thursday

iCopic: What To Do In Desperate Times!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I have just spent a wonderful week at the beach near Southern California.  I had a wonderful  time and the weather was gorgeous!  However - that leads me to the little "tip and trick" I am going to share with you today.   I was so proud of myself for packing lightly.  You now what I mean!   Those craft bags we take on vacation can really add up to be more than our clothing! OK - more than clothing for the whole family!   I was in the process of coloring my image with Copics and my violet Copics I needed  for my mid-tone and highlight ran out of ink.  You got it.... it was dry.  My card was due (like yesterday)! No - there were not any Copic stores near.  iCopic was too far and Fed Ex wouldn't cooperate!

To learn the little trick I used - check out my little tutorial on iCopic HERE!

I hope you like it!

Outlawz: You And Me Baby

I want to tell you - I am having the time of my life!    I was invited to spend a week at the ocean as a "belated" birthday present!   Now that's my kind of living!     The weather has been gorgeous.    I am about an hour and a half north of LA.   My only regret is that Suzanne Dean was at San Jose and I missed her!   If it would have been around a 3 hour drive....   I think I would have made a trip there....   but it was much longer!   Oh well.

I created this wedding card as my Guest Designer project at the The Outlawz.    The Twisted Thursday  challenge  theme for this week  is "wedding" so it is easy come with fun ideas.    Don't you just love weddings?

I used this cute little  digital image from Tiddly Inks called You And Me Baby.   This image would look cute for a prom card or anniversary as well!

Copic Markers Used
Skin tones:  YR0000, YR000, E00  and R20

THCRD: Your Favorite Technique!

Happy Thursday to all of you!  I am enjoying a wonderful week just  a little over an hour north of Los Angeles and I am loving it!  I am so spoiled - and love it!

Two posts in one day!   I just wanted to make sure you all knew that THCRD is having a wonderful challenge going on for the next couple of weeks!    I was Just selected to be on this fabulous Design Team!    I feel humbled and not to mention...... happy! :D

This challenge is to use your favorite technique.  Now who doesn't like THAT kind of challenge?!
I have so many favorite techniques but I must say that my current favorite is doodling or adding texture to my image somewhere.   It may be large.... it may be small... but all my images will have some type of doodling or texturizing on it!

Out sponsor is  Floppy Latte Designs.    The name just makes me smile!      Jessica has been designing digital stamps for over a year and has a great selection from which to choose.   She also offers a lot of freebies on monday so check out her shop at  Floppy Latte Designs

A Second Aww Moment For The Day!

Thank you for joining me again today!    I have another special card featuring the Outlawz tomorrow!

iCopic: 3-D Envelope

Hi everyone!  I want to share a DT project I created for the iCopic challenge -  Spring Colored Project"!   I love this time of year and just can't get enough of it!  I feel like doing the "Happy Dance"!    That brings me to the project I created for you  with the adorable image, Milton with Poppy from Wild Rose Studio.

Before I go into the tutorial for this 3-D project, I want to share some great news.  There will be a new, limited edition of popular Copic Markers coming out soon.   Pre-order is happening now at iCopic!

Many of us spend a  lot of hours creating diminutional cards and shudder to think of them being crushed in an envelope.  For cards that will be delivered by mail,  I place them in a Priority Mail box before mailing.  The cost is $5.35 - but I can spend hours to days creating one card.    But what do you do for those you just hand to those special people?   I have created a little 3-D Envelope that will be a beautiful way to present the card that you spent hours creating.

I Started with Y26 in my shadow area.

I blended from dark to light  adding Y21, Y13, Y11 and Y000.
I worked on a lingo petal at a time in order to work while my ink was still wet.

I used C7, C5 and C3 for the center of my poppy.   My grass and foliage was colored with G40, YG63 and YG67.
I colored little Milton with E30, E31, E34, E35, E37.   I used a stippling method.  I then used my Copic Colorless Blender to add more texture.   I doodled on his nose with Copic Multiliner Sepia 0.3 mm and on his ear with Copic Multiliner Pink 0.3 mm.

Close up of my punched flowers.  I used a snowflake punch for my foliage.

This is the assembled card   I did not want my flowers to get crushed by a 2A envelope so I created a 3-3-D envelope to hold the card.

I  started with aa 8 in X 11 in. piece for firm card stock.
With the card stock in vertical position, I scored at 1/2 in, 1 in, 7 in and 7 1/2 in.
With the card stock positioned in landscape orientation, score at 2 1/2 in, 3 in,  7 1/2 in and 8 in.

Cut coordinating card stock and  designer paper to coordinate with your card.
Cardstock:
5.5 in x 2 in.
 5.5 in x 4 in.
 5.5in x 2.5 in

Designer Paper
5.25 in x 1.37 in
5.25 in x 3.75 in.
5.25 in x 2.25 in

I rounded the corners of the top flap and top of the side flap.

Finished 3-D Envelope.
The perfect size for your 3-D cards!

Finished Spring Project

CMC: Kissed By A Dew Drop

Kissed By A Dew Drop

Hello to all my wonderful friends!    I want to share my card I Design Team card for CMC.  WE are having a fun challenge sponsored by Tiffany Doodles.   The theme is "yellow".

For my image, I selected the "Daphine"  digital image  illustrated by Tiffany Doodles.  This is such a versatile image that can be used for so many different occasions!

My highlights were identified.  I started with my shadow area using Y21.

I blended out with Y15 using a flicking method.

I used tip to tip blending method for Y15 and Y00.  I blended out to my lightest area with Y0000.

I repeated the process with the rest of the leaves.   It is best to complete ear leaf separately.  This will allow you to get a better blend because the ink is still wet.

This is what the finished leaves look like.   I added a little B0000 to the back leaves to provide shadow and dimension.  It makes the leaves appear to be set in the background.

I added a touch of dew drops to the image.   I made a dot with my colorless blender and then darkened
the shadow side with with  Y 21 and blended the dew drop.  When it dried, I added a touch of Copic opaque ink to the highlighted side of the the dew  drop.

I layered my card and added some punched and die cut flowers for embellishment.

Stamper's Quest: Make A Wish!

Hello to all my friends!  I am wrapping up my week off.   It has been very busy - Cropping with my crafty friends and making cards ahead so I don't get behind!   You know what I mean.   Work tends to get in the way of great fun!   :D

This is a card i created with a detailed tutorial  for Stamper's Quest.  It is a FREE online magazine filled with tutorials from some wonderful artists.   It is a "must see" site!    It is always filled with great ideas.  I always learn a lot from my peers.

I created a tutorial on making balloons look transparent.  this is a technique that can be applied to anything you want to have a transparent appearance.    It is a neat little trick that adds a lot of realism to the mage.   Of course, I couldn't resist my little doodling.  I think I will try to secretly doodle or texturize something - no matter how small on each of my images.  It pushes me a little to try something different.  You may have to look hard to find it on some crds.... but it will ALWAYS be there! :D

Since this was published in an  e-magazine, I am not permitted to post the full tutorial here.  But click this site and you will be able to view it at Stamper's Quest.  Again, it is a free e-magazine, so you have nothing to lose! :D  The price is right! LOL
