I Salute You: Copic Color Combo - Tahitian Blue

mp050914aHello and welcome!  Marie here with another mini video and tutorial for you.
I have been dreaming of warm and wonderful exotic places lately! Maybe that is why I decided to demo a Tahitian Blue for you this week. LOL I have never been to Tahiti but I would sure like to test it out! But for now, I must be content with coloring the blue and visiting the beautiful tropical land in my dreams.

  1. The image was stamped on X-Press It paper using Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink.  They are both compatible with Copic and ShinHan markers.
  2. A black Copic multiline 0.03 was applied to any area of the image that did not have compete ink coverage.
  3. Tilda is looking straight forward so I decided to have my light source come directly from the front.
  4. I always like to color my skin tones first.   E000, E00, E11 and a touch of R20 to the cheeks.
  5. The hair was colored with a cool gray-black tones using C3, C5, C7 and C9.
  6. The  Tahitian Blue color combo was used to color her skirt and hat.   B02, B04, B06.   For an intense shadow, I layered B06, C5 and Bo6 sparingly in my shadow area.
  7. The skirt and socks were colored using R20, R22, R24 , R27 and for high intensity shadows  I layered R27/C5/R27.
  8. The white scarf was colored with the c0, c1 and Colorless Blender.  I only colored the edges  (shadow areas) so it would look white, rather than a dirty gray.
  9. I colored the shoes with C3, C5 and C7.
  10. C4 and c5 was used as grounding for the image.   I always try to ground my image so it is not floating in the air.   That is….. unless I am coloring an angel or a bird LOL
  11. The background was watercolor.   I masked my image with a post-it note.  I stamped the image on the note, cut the image out and placed it over the image.  I then applied the ink with a splatter technique using a toothbrush.
  12. The top mat was embossed using Swiss Dots.
  13. The folded banners were created by cutting a 2 inch strip of layer weight card stock and scoring it at 1/4 inch, folding it and gluing the bottom to a single strip of card stock.   The brad was applied and it was adhered to the focal image.

  1. What a fabulous card! It reminds me of Shirley Temple for some reason...maybe it's the salute. The red, white and blue are the perfect color palette. I particularly love the rosettes....what a great touch. As usual your coloring is impeccable. Thanks for being such a fantastic teacher.
