Happy Thursday!   We are making it through the week!   The Outlawz - Twisted thursday has a new and fun challenge.  It will last all week and the theme is "fishing".   I am not sure what my little guy is fishing FOR, fut his is fishing ! :D

MarkerPop: Silver Fairy

 

Silver Fairy

Hello everyone!    I am just so excited to get to help kick off our new MarkerPop Blog! Have you checked out our new MarkerPop online store? We have a lot of new products including new stamps (drool), new alcohol ink markers (heart goes pitter patter) and new embellishments (Christmas in July)! Treat yourself to a little eye candy and check it out! For our first "Tip/Technique Tuesday" I am going to share a card I created with a Wee Whimsy Stamp called Silver Fairy. This stamp was created by the wonderful Sylvia Zet. She has a whimsical style and the faces on her stamps are just adorable. They have a whimsy, innocence that communicates a trustful heart. Now isn't that what ALL good fairies are supposed to do? :D  

Copics Alcohol Ink Markers Used 

Skin Tones: E000, E11, R20 

Hair: C3, C5, C7, Opaque White Ink 

Clothing , wings and accessories: BG000, BG32, BG34, BG57 and CB 

Ground: W3, W0 Background: C0, B0000 (Copic faux watercolor), Opaque White Ink

Tip #1 Using a Colorless Blender in a "dabbing" method 

will give a whimsical, transparent look to the wings.

Tip #2 My card is a 4.25 in x 5.5 in (fits an A2 envelope). 

 As you can tell from my card,

 the stamp is a good size -measuring in at approximately 3.84 in x 3.8 in.

 If you want space on your card to allow your designer paper to show or 

if you want more space to embellish your card, 

partially paper piece the image so the wings extend from the mat on the focal image. 

The size of this stamp makes it wonderful for cards, 3-D projects and scrapbooks. The size is great for newbies to alcohol ink markers - There is plenty of room to color and practice blending!

THCRD: Christmas In July!

Christmas In July

Are you familiar with Through The Craft room Door magazine? It is an online paper craft bi-monthly magazine with a special holiday issue. The current issue has 75 wonderful pages with 6 free digi's. I selected a beautiful stamp called Very Merry Christmas  from GKD.   I love this image and used it for many holiday Cards and projects last year.   You might have guessed it..... It was the first I pulled out again this year!  

Start with the darkest color YR 24 and use it sparingly in the shadow areas.  I learned to start with the darkest shadow area but if you are more comfortable with starting with the lightest, do what feels natural to you.  

Gently blend with Y23 and the Y15 with flicking motions toward the center of the bell.   Keep your flicking motion light and  in the same direction.  Do not color back and forth.  Remember you are working with Copic Alcohol Markers and one of the beautiful things about them is that they MOVE your ink that you have on your page.   Going back and forth would over blend and you would lose all 

of your highlights.  The image would appear flat and one color

Add Y11 and blend using a flicking motion toward the center of the bell.   Add Y00 to the lightest area of your image.  Lightly blend across the image with Y00.  Begin to shadow the darkest part of the ribbon with G28.  Use it very sparingly.  You can always go back and darken the shadows but it is nearly impossible to remove too much dark shading.  Think light!

Add Y63 and blend out a little.  Add G40 to the lightest part of the image that will pick up the light.  Very lightly blend the G40 over your  ribbon image.  Go back and darken any area that needs to be darker and then gently blend with your YG63 and G40 until you have a smooth image.  If you want a beautiful image, you will need to take the time to go back and rework your image.... remembering to keep your highlights.  When you do use the darker color, remember to use your lighter colors in order to have a good blend. 

Cut your image  and focal mat with Nestabilities  Petite Small and Large  Oval die.  The background was colored with Booo- and B000.  Opaque White whimsical swirls were created with opaque white Coipic ink.   The layers wee adhered and the card was embellished with rhinestones to coordinate with the mats and designer paper.

Our challenges will start every Monday at 8:00a.m.  Now isn't that a GREAT way to start the week?  There will be fabulous prizes weekly to a lucky recipient.   In addition to the weekly challenge the MarkerPop  Design Team will knock their socks off to bring you inspiration, new ideas and techniques to entice you to get out those markers and start coloring!

Today's challenge theme is : Color fur or hair.  The design team has used some of the MarkerPop products.   I have used the adorable clear Milton & Co stamp  called Milton with Poppy (Wild Rose Studio).   I have a few of the Milton images and I just love the color them up!   I think he has the most adorable face.   It is a great image to create fur using your Copic or  the Touch ShinHan alcohol ink markers.

The card I am sharing with you today is from Wild Rose Studio caed Milton with Poppy.  I just love this little stamp!   It  comes with Milton holding a poppy that is fun to color and a sentiment.  This  stamp measures about 4 in x 3 in  and is a perfect size for card making.  I have several of the Milton images and they are my "go to" stamps when I am coloring fur with my Copic alcohol  markers.  We colored ALOT of fur in Suzanne Dean's alcohol ink marker classes at CMC and I can truthfully say I never get tired of  grabbing another furry image!!!  I think it is one of my favorite techniques!

Milton: E30, E33, E35, E38, R20

Poppy: YR18, YR16, YR14, YR00

Grass and flower stem: G28, YG63, G40

Background: B000, Opaque white Copic ink. 

Technique: 

 Creating fur with stippling and colorless blender,

On paper Copic blending

and

Paper Quilling.

The layers were adhered  and I embellished the card with 

roses that I created with cardstock and a  quilling technique.

Stamper's Quest: Passionate Purple
