Heartfelt Creations - Botanic Orchid With Regal Hummingbird

Heartfelt Creations
Botanic Orchid with Regal Hummingbird

Hello and welcome.

Today is week two of Heartfelt Creations' new June Release.   I am  showcasing the Regal Hummingbird stamp and die set and Botanic Orchid stamp and Die Set.
I wanted to share a partial die cut card with you today.

When I look at this little guy, it reminds me of a hummingbird that would visit whenever I was reading on the patio.  I named him "Cutie" and he would just hang in the air and make cute little sounds!    Talk about adorable!   The memories of Cutie inspired me to create this card with him just hanging over the edge of the card by using a partial cut die technique.

Heartfelt Creations' Products Used

Other Products
Heavy olive green card stock, X-Press It Blending Card Stock, double sided tape, Ice Stickles, Copic alcohol ink markers, Misty, die cutting machine, pearls,  watercolor and brush, corner rounder, sponge dauber.

Instructions
Cut X-Press It  paper at 81/4  x 5 1/2 inches.  Score at 4 1/4 inches.  Stamp the hummingbird  on the right side of the paper  (as shown in the picture) with Tuxedo Black Dye Ink.  Color the hummingbird  with Copic markers - B21, B02,  B01, B000, B0000.   Color the front  of the card stock using a watercolor wash.   I used lavender, purple and green watercolor.

Draw a light line with a pencil vertically though the area of the hummingbird that you want to extend off the edge of the card. Extend the vertical line down the entire edge of the page.   Align the line with the edge of the cutting plate of your die machine.  Secure the outer edge to the plate with tape.  Most of the  card will hang over the edge of the cutting plate and not cut when the plate is run through the machine.   The die will only cut the portion of the hummingbird that is enclosed within the cutting plates.   Cut from the top pencil line to the die cut area and again from the bottom of the pencil line to the die cut area.   When the card is folded,  part of the hummingbird will extend over the edge of the card and give the appearance of a bird in flight.

An optional green mat  was cut and placed behind the front of the card to give more strength to the underside. The corners of the top flap were shaped with a corner rounder.  The inside of the card mat was cut using   4 x 5 1/4 inches of green card stock.  The  designer paper on the inside was cut from the Botanic Orchid Paper Collection.  It was cut at 3 3/4 inches x 5 inches.

The Botanic Orchid  Cling Stamp  was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on X-Press It paper.    If you are going to use Copic markers, you can use any Copic compatible ink.   If you are going to sponge the paper, I like to use any 65# white paper.    The flowers were lightly spritzed with a small amount of water and shaped with he flower shaping tool. The flowers were assembled and glued with Designer Clear Adhesive.   Emma Lou has some fantastic video's on our Heartfelt Creations' Blog showing how easy it is to shape beautiful flowers.

The  flourish was cut from the Cut Mat Create 2A Die.   Some gentle shaping was applied to allow the edges to curl for movement.

Layers were assembled,   The flourish and flowers were fixed with clear Designer Glue.  Pearls were added for embellishment.

Thank you so much for stopping by.   I hope you check out all the gorgeous creations from our Heartfelt Creations DT.   You can find the link to their blogs on my lefthand sidebar!    If you like the stamps and die I used, you can find the supplies by clicking the product name.   I hope you enjoy your visit  to Heartfelt Creations' Botanic Orchid Release!
