Welcome to this weeks post with a new release by Sherri Baldy at her My Besties Shop .
I used this adorable Bestie Image - img955.
I want to try some new things this year so for this post, thought I would take one image and see if I cold get a really different look. I thought it might be a way to stretch some of those stamps and images.
I colored the first with Copic Alcohol Ink Markers and for my background, I added some muted hearts with watercolor. I added quilling on top of that. I combined two types of quilling..... Shaped rolls and also Chinese Quilling.
When I was in Hawaii, I saw some beautiful quilled cards and the artist created a watercolor background to coordinate with her quilling. I think I will be trying a lot of that this year... now you know one of my personal resolutions for the year. LOL. This will help with my watercolor, sketching and quilling!
For my second card, I used the same image but created a fireworks background that I learned at a Kit & Clowder Class. I thought it would make a cute Valentine Day's Card (You light my life) or a great New Years or Fourth of July!
Thank you for stopping by my blog! I really appreciate it.
I also have been posting some new YouTube video's on Seasonal Tags and some involve quilling. I would love for you to check out my YouTube Channel!
Have a wonderful day!
these are so very beautiful Marie

Thank you so much Karin! I hope you hare having a wonderful start of 2-16! Hugs, marie
ReplyDeleteLove them both, Marie. The first card is just adorable with that precious image and your water coloring and those quilled hearts are just amazing, especially that last one with the "tail". I agree, your second card will make the ideal Valentine's Day card lighting up someone's life for sure. Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteThank you Donna! The long tail on the second heart was the Chinese Influence in quilling. It is a new technique I am learning and will be incorporating into my more traditional quilling.
DeleteI loved coloring the background black on the second image. I then used my colorless blender to push the color away while creating the fireworks and then I used a bright Copic. I wish I had florescent Copics but I don't have any. So I added Stickles. Take care! :D Hugs, Marie
