Puppy Luv - Light Denim Blue Tutorial

It's my turn to post on our  MarkerPOP Blog today.
I am excited about sharing another tutorial with you today!

My image is called Puppy Luv (Saturated Canary)
We will be focusing on coloring light blue jeans  today.
Cryogen paper (Curious Metallic)
Accent flowers.

The two adorable images are looking at each other.   It is a personal preference but I like to have the highlight come from the front on this image.   I sometimes like to mark my shadow area with my lightest area and that way I can make sure I like the way it will look.

It is a personal preference but I like to have the highlight come from the front on this image.
I sometimes like to mark my shadow area with my lightest area and that way I can make sure I like the way it looks.
By using my lightest color, I can make a correction if I want to change the shadow area.
I work in very small areas in order to keep my work surface wet.  This will allow for easier blending.
However for the purpose of this tutorial, I will color larger portions in order to limit the number of photos.

B91 was used for my highlight.  This will be the area receiving the greatest amount of light source.
B93  was my mid-tone and B95  was selected for my shadow color.
I used a small amount of B97 for extreme shadow areas.
So in this picture, B95 was applied to the shadow areas.
A flicking motion was used from the outer edge toward the highlight.

B91 was applied from the B93 edge flicking inward.  The process was repeated on the other side of the same leg flicking toward the center. I avoid coloring over the highlight area to many times.  every time the color is applied, more color is absorbed and the highlight can be lost.

My "extreme shadowing" was applied sparingly to the deeply recessed folds and sides that get the least amount of light source.  Extreme shadowing  adds interest and allows the image to POP!

I added a creative background by grounding my image and then stenciling some fun background design that adds interest and helps the focal image come to the foreground.
