Hello Friend: Fur Tutorial

Hello everyone! I want to share a card I created for the challenge The Outlawz: Twisted Thursday.   We are always "anything Goes" but the twist is "Butterflies and/or Birds".   I created this card using Butterfly Bear by Penny Johnson (Stampavie).   I have usedthis little guy so any times and I never get tired.  It seems to be a "go to" stamp for me.

Today I am going to share my first video. Yes! My very first! It took me forever to figure out how to upload this baby but I finally did it with a little help from my friends. Ok – a lot of help from my friends! I learned a lot from making this video and promise to make it shorter next time!

And now I will share a technique for creating fur called “stippling” that I learned from my friend and mentor, Suzanne Dean at Color Me Creative. I used sketch Copic Alcohol Ink Markers on Cryogen paper. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp my image. This works great with Copic markers and will not damage your nibs!

I hope you enjoy this tutorial!

I used Butterfly Bear by Penny Johnson (Stampavie) for this tutorial.

I am linking this card with the following challenges:

That's all for today and I hope you have a wonderful, safe week!

  9. Marie, I was so looking forward to see how you colored the fir with copics....but I can't get the video for the bear. I just get the same video I've already seen....the one with the Cancer Ribbon. Can you suggest how I can see the right one? Thanks, Rae

  10. Found it! I refreshed and went back to the home page and scrolled down to the video of the bear. This time it was the correct video, hooray! No one would ever know this was your first video unless you told them, it was excellent. You have a very sweet voice for a video, and you show us the numbers on each copic so we'll be able to reproduce it ourselves. You did a fabulous job sharing the stippling method to show fur for the bear, and I love you explaining where you learned to do this, in case we'd like to take her course also. Thank you for a job well done. I'm so glad I found you today.

  11. Wow Marie! Great job on your first video! I stop by and read your blog often but have not always left comments. I have been busy teaching jewelry classes but my real love is Copics. Your creations are gorgeous. I love your backgrounds! Is that the watercolor technique on all of them? Gorgeous!
    Big Hugs!
