MarkerPOP Inspiration: I Only Have Eyes For You!

Mp031113a
Bella and Butterfly
Wild Rose Studio
Welcome!     I have another day off and I am in heaven!    Just to have a day to work ahead on some card and craft projetcts is a fantastic day to me!    The sun has been out and I just love taking a moment to glance out at my back yard.  I realized I don't usually have much time to enjoy that!

I have been playing around with fun and inky backgrounds lately!     I want to share a card I created using the adorable little stamp called Bella and Butterfly from Wild Rose Studio.   This is a card I created for my MarkerPOP Design Team.   I love, love, love all the little Bella stamps!   This one is no exception!

Copic Markers Used:
  • Bella:  Vo4, Vo2, V01, V000 with cast on left G40 to pick up grass and on the right I used BG000 to pick up the sky
  • Flowers: B000, B02 and a touch of V01, Y23, Y11, R22, R20,
  • Grass and Leaves: G28, G40, YG63,
  • Butterfly: Y11, Y000, C5
  • Sky with clouds: C3, BG10, B000, BG000, Colorless Blender and  White Pastel chalk.
I have been obsessed with backgrounds!  Yes, it's true.   I attended a workshop in Anaheim called Copic Color and Ink Workshop  and I have never been the same since.   I   am going wild coloring different backgrounds on everything in sight!   I have been a coloring fool with a silly grin on my face!   This card is no exception.   I created my own marbleized background designer paper, I created a sky background with clouds  and I even tried to incorporate reflected colors from the grass and sky on little Bella.
Mp031113
I used a Copic and Water technique  to  create a marbleized   background for my base layer.   I used drops of Copic Various Ink refills  that I floated on top of water.    It is super subtle but I love the marbleized effect.

Mp031113a
I  find  playing around with backgrounds is a lot of fun and allows me to experiment and learn more about what my Copic markers can do.

I am linking this card with the following challenges:

That is all I have for today.  I hope this inspires you to put on an apron and maybe some gloves and start playing with all your various ink colors and other ink you may have as well.   I hope you have fun!

Don't forget our MarkerPop Challenge #18  is still running  through 3/17 and you have time to show us your wonderful creation!

SP & Company March Release Party!

Sp031013a

Welcome!  Woo Hoo!   It is March Release Day for SP & Company - Samantha Peyton's new and wonderful stamps and products!    Check out all the fabulous creations The Design Team has for you!   I hope you will hop along with us and find some inspiration along the way!

For my creation, I used two new stamps from SP & Company called  "Even Bolder Happy Mini Set"  and "Graphic Houndstooth".   I just  love the versatility of these stamps.

SP031013c

Now look at that  bold sentiment!  Someone is really gong to know you are thinking about them!   LOL!

I used Memento Angel Pink Dye Ink (Tsukineko) to stamp my Graphic Houndstooth clear stamp.
I think this makes a great background for sentiments!

 Technique:
I used a Cathedral Window technique for my focal image.

I used a  1.5 inch circle punch and cut 1 inch squares to match my designer paper.
I adhered the square to the center of the circle and folded the edges over.
When they are placed in a square, they give the impression of a cathedral windows.
It is fun to experiment with other papers.

For Example….

Sp031913e

This is an example of using the Cathedral Window all the way down the card.  See the windows?    The sentiment could be placed in the center -  or in a corner...  The sky is the limit!    There are so many things that can be done with this technique!

I am linking this card in the following challenges:

I hope you take some time and hop along on our New Release Blog Hop!

SP & Company Challenge: Be Fearless!

Sp030813

Hello to all my friends in Cyber-land!   SP & Company is having an exciting Online Event with challenges, challenges and more challenges going NOW!!    We are have a great couple of days getting to know you better, chatting and just  sharing all the projects we are working on!     If you have not visited yet, you can check it out HERE.

This is a card I created for our SP & Company Online Chat Challenge.  This card will go live for the challenge HERE at 4 pm Pacific time (7 pm Eastern time).   I hope you stop by and participate my challenge!     The theme I selected is…. "GLITTER".  Sometimes a girl just needs to glitz it up!  LOL     I just ove using glitter in all forms.   I have often used glitter to add some glitz to the edges of my cards or for a design but I have never added pearls to it.  I saw one of Gina K's cards on Facebook where one of her designers added pearls to it.   I tried to find it yesterday until my fingers got tired.  I wanted to give credit where credit was due but did not find it.  I will just say - the inspiration came from Gina K!    I really think the pearls add so much.  For an additional twist - I colored my pearls with Coipic Alcohol Ink Markers and added a few colored pearls among all the ivory ones.    I like the effect.

Sp030913b

I used the Awareness is Empowering clear stamp from SP & Company.   I Think this will make a wonderful card for a few of my friends that have been fearless and strong and speak in loud voices about the hope that is out there for women and yes, occasionally  men fighting breast cancer.   I cheer you on, my friends!
030913d

I used my new Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Nine and sponged the edges with Memento Angel Pink dye ink from Tsukineko.

030813c

I used a larger nesting die to create my pink mat for the focal image.

030913e
I used some  double sided tape around the edges.   Any double sided tape can be used but Scor-tape or Red Tape has a lot of adhesive for good holding power.

030913f

I placed ivory colored pearls in a few places and then added some pink pearls for accent.  I added Sugar coating Lily White Glitter by Doodlebug Design, Inc.  around the edges and applied pressure with  some tissue paper to allow it to firmly adhere.  I did not want to use my fingers because I did not want the oil from my skin to remove the sticky adhesive of the tape.  Any fine crystal colored glitter will work.
Sp030813

I attached a bow on one side and a little ribbon tail on the other side.   Is that what you call it?   Tail? LOL

I  have also been asked to teach an art class at our local craft store (Gulp)!  My knees are knocking.     This will be one of the three cards I will be teaching for my first class.   Wish me luck!   Someone else will be teaching a "basic class" and I was asked to teach intermediate.   They do not sell Copics or colored pencils so I am up the creek trying to figure out cards that will step up the techniques and NO Copics!  Big tears running down my cheeks!  LOL

In addition to our wonderful challenge at SP & Company Online Chat Event, I will link this card to the following challenges:

I hope you join in on this challenge and  you return to our  SP & Company Online Chat Event  and see why is next on our list of fun and games!

The Outlawz: Twisted Thursday - Remembering Fearless Women

TT030713a
Hello!   Hello! Hello!  I have a few days off from work and that makes me a happy woman!  The first thing I did was run to my art studio to play with my new nest abilities and create this card for The Outlawz: Twisted Thursday.   Our challenge is always "Anything Goes" but if you choose to participate in the "twist" - your name goes in twice!   Our fun twist for this weeks challenge is "BINGO"!   That is always something I love to do!
Our sponsors are our own Anne Fenton and some lucky winner will get three of Anne's Digital Art.   Our second wonderful sponsor is MarkerPop and the winner will get a $10.00 gift certificate from the online store.
This is my design team card I created using the bingo card.   I decided to use a die cut, designer paper and ink.     I used  a rubber stamp called Cornflower Blue by Karen Middleton.   I just love her images.   I wish I could have them all!   You know what I mean?     I used Pure Luxury White for my card base.  My designer paper is from The Luxury Stack by DCWV.  I got to use my new Nestabilities for the first time…. whoo too!    I used Elegant Labels 4 by Spellbinders and Small Petite Oval Nestabiities by Spellbinders.

SP & Company: Twine! Twine! Twine!

Sp030613

Welcome!   I am so excited to announce that my friend Sami asked me to serve on her SP & Company Design Team!  She  has been putting all her energy into launching a whole new look to her SP & company!   I am so honored and excited to get to  be a part of this!   Her new products are amazing and she has been surprising us every day with some cool new things!

Our Challenge # 5 just went live!    We are featuring "Baker's Twine".  And hope you enjoy of inspiration cards!   The lucky winner will get a $25.00 gift certificate to use at SP & Company Store!

Just a note about Baker's Twine.   It is 100% cotton that makes it very easy to work with.   It  is two threads twisted to form  gorgeous colorful twine that will enhance and embellish cards, scrapbooks and 3-D products.   My brain is just swirling with all kinds of ideas that can make any project "POP"!

Have you ever tried it?    I have had mine for awhile and was excited to have an opportunity to pull out some tools and see what I could do!   I used my leaf We R Memory Keeper paper piercing tool and used my twine to create leafs.   I then used my red/white Baker's Twine to create french knots to look like flowers.    My mother taught me to embroidery as a child.  I remember sitting by her side and learning "french knots".   I rapped the thread around my needle three times and re-entered the same hole and pulling it through to the back.    It is amazing how I am now remembering all those little tricks my mother taught me!
I used 120# whet paper for my card base.   I layers some green from my stash and accented with the beautiful new designer paper  called Sweet Girl - Sweet Clover paper from  S&P Company.

Tip:  If your Baker's Twine color is not quite what you are looking for…..   wrap the twine single layer around some cardboard.  Color across the twine at a slight angle with a Copic marker in the color of your choice.  This will allow you to match your colors perfectly!   I did this with my green leaves.

I am linking this card with the following wonderful challenges:

That is all I have for today and I hope you check out all the wonderful new products at SP & Company and play with us for our Challenge # %!   Have a wonderful, crafty week!
Hugs,
