Hello and welcome!

The sun is shining  here in California and a gentle breeze is blowing.    It is a time my thoughts always wander to memories of the ocean and warm, glistening sand!   Heartfelt Creations  Under the Sea May release includes some of the wonderful stamps and die I have used on my Heartfelt Creations Shaker Memory Box!
I am using some fantastic fish, coral, port-hole stamps and die....   not to mention the gorgeous Under the Sea paper collections!

Copic alcohol ink markers, white opaque white ink, mini misting bottle, Ranger Dylusions Paint – black, blue and white, paintbrush, copper alcohol Ink spritzer, blue and green micro-beads for shaker, acetate, pearls, copper Liquid Pearls, Ranger copper colored corner plates

Instructions

Stamp  two  different fish, two port windows  and two coral images with Memento Espresso Truffle Ink Pad on X-Press It Blending Card( or any Copic compatible paper).  Color the images with your choice of media. I used Copic alcohol ink markers. Copic markers  used on Fish 1 – YR02, YR06, YR21, YR23, YR27, YR15.  Y11 and opaque white ink for accent.  Copic markers used for Fish 2 -  B000, B00, B21, B23, B26, B27, BG 000, BG00, BG10, Y00, Y02,  YR21, YR23, and opaque white ink for accent.  Copics for the Coral – E000, E02, E35, E37, G40, YG 63, G28, B21, B28, Y00, Y02, YR23 and opaque white ink.

Die cut the fish you selected for the inside of your box, two coral reefs and two port windows.   Do not die cut the fish for your shaker window!

Spray the port windows with copper alcohol ink.  This will give an aged, tarnished look.  Position and glue fish image #1 and trim a circle to fit the port window. Adhere acetate to the  underside of  the second window and surround it  with dimensional foam strips to add depth.   Put some blue and green micro beads in the center of the image and place the top port window on top.   You can cut some fine strips with the reserved foil cardstock and adhere around the sides of the window to give a finished look. This will hide the foam strips!  Lightly spritz the remaining fish and coral on the underside with water and shape with your shaping tools and mat.   I lightly applied texture paste to the underside for strength and allowed to dry – but this is totally optional.

The chipboard box was coated with black Dylusions paint with a small amount of blue and white for interest.  I rubbed this in with my finger to allow it to blend with the black and to help give an aged look.  Most chipboard boxes vary slightly in size, so rather than state the actual size I used, I suggest cutting each base layer ¼ inch less than the length and width of the box panels. I measured my designer paper ¼ inch less than the base layers.     All layers and strips were adhered using double sided tape for strength.  The top of the inside lid has designer paper with a beautiful scene and I adhered a colored fish for added interest. The bottom designer paper has a sentiment that added a nice touch when the box is opened.

The shaker window was glued securely to the top of the memory box. Two coral reef images, pearls and liquid pearls were added for embellishment.  Ranger copper corner plates were added to the four bottom corners of the memory box. One can always add some additional corner plates to the inside lid as well.  This completes the Under The Sea Memory Box.

  2. Beautiful,super-duper project! I love your creative shaker box with the awesome porthole. It makes me think of under the sea treasures...maybe a place for the little mermaid to put her baubles. I've been working with new products that could easily be incorporated into a shaker box. Thanks for inspiring me...again!
