Color Me Creative Metallic Challenge

Hi everyone! It is so good to be back I had a great time in Santa Fe but it is always good to get home. I returned to a week of 12 hours shifts. Yes, it is time for a week off and I plan to have a great time in my craft studio!

It is time for a challenge on Color Me Creative Classroom . The challenge is to create any Copic colored image that has a lot of "metallic" in it. It can be gold, tin, silver or copper. Doesn't that sound fun? Check it out and join in the fun!

I studied the tutorial on metallic that was done on this fabulous blog.... In Rosie's Book

I still need to practice, practice and practice... but this is the card I decided to create for this challenge - I hope Rosie likes it!

"Sunshine on Copper Vintage Milk Cans".

Technique:
Metallic as demonstrated by Suzanne Dean in CMCC Class 3 #7

My personal challenge for the Day: I wanted to challenge myself to make the background feel like an extension of the image. I wanted to bring the rustic copper into the background - kind of an image within an image!

Measurements:
Card Base 5.5 in. X 8.5 in.
Score and fold at 4.25 in. (This makes card for a 2A envelope)
Base Layer 4 in. X 5.25 in.
Focal Image Layer: Spellbinder Nestabilities “Labels Eleven
Base Focal Image Laye: Spellbinder Nestabilities “Labels Eleven

Supplies:
Focal Image: Digi Doodle Shop “Vintage Milk Cans”

Background Image Base Layer: Tim Holtz embossing folder “Bricked”

Copic Markers:
Copper Milk Cans: E33, E37, E39, E02, E00
Tin Milk Cans: C3, C5, C7, C9, R20, B00
Wood: E00, E11, E29, E19
Flowers: Y00, Y02, YR02
I drew lines to make wood panels on the base of cart with Black Copic Pen

Card Stock Cryogen White, GKD Pure Ivory, Chocolate, Moonlit Fog, Pure Luxury White, and Black Onyx.

Ink : Memento London Fog, Dandelion, and Angel Pink. I used Brilliance Mineral for base layer.

Tools: Scor-Pal or Scor-Buddy, Paper Cutter (I use Fiskars), Scissors (Tim Holtz helps reduce pain for those with arthritis!), Quickie Glue Pen, Adhesive, large sponge daubers, Cuttlebug and Tim Holtz embossing folder “Bricked”.
Thin Copper from Create With Metal (Designer Metal Sheets

Tip of the Day: The Thin Copper from Create With Metal (Designer Metal Sheets) can be easily cut with your die cutter!

I also wanted to try coloring tin with the same digital image. Let's see how different it looks! I wanted the colors of the sky to reflect in the tin.

  2. Oh Marie! Your copper metal cans look MAGNIFICENT!!! It's the direction of your strokes and the reflective highlights that make it look so much like metal. Love your use of Cool Gray's for tin too. Absolutely stunning (I'll pick my jaw up off the floor now) . . . So glad you shared your work here! ~ Rose
